Born in the Skatay region, Petra grew up amongst fellow veena viera up until he was around 12 years old. His father was an abusive drunk whowas rarely around as most veena males were but would occassionally come around to either be beligerent towards his family while intoxicated or would be harshly training Petra to be prepared for the harsh realities of life on your own as an adult vieran male. While she was a pleasant woman, Petra’s mother coddled her only son and hid away the fact that she was gravely ill as well as trying her best to hide the horrible abuse that she endured at his father’s hand.Eventually his mother succumbed to her illness and Petra was left on his own, confused and too scared to ask any other adult in the community for help due to the isolation that he had been subjected to because of his father’s abuse and his mother’s attempt at a facade of a “normal” family to the rest of the village. Thankfully his father returned before the body had noticably rot and disposed of her body, reacting in such a heartless way that something in Petra had snapped.The next time his father took him out to train him, Petra waited until his father became inebriated enough to pass out and he struck him dead where he lay. With that, he left his body to the wilds and left off to be on his own, far away from his village. Sneaking on a boat to Aldenard, he was found when it was far too late to return to land and was forced into work on board. After two months at sea, he arrived in Limsa Lominsa and was scouted and picked up as an underling for a female Roegaiden who offered him power in exchange for working for a crime lord in Uldah as an assassin for those who have not paid their debts to the lord or have otherwise wronged him.
